Connecting with God Daily through His Word

There is no greater privilege in the entire world than meeting with God personally. It is better than meeting the president, or a famous athlete, or a celebrity, or a foreign King. We get to meet and talk with the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. He wants you to know his thoughts, his heart, and his plans in the world, including those that have to do with you. Below are some brief guides to how to make that time meaningful for you.

When reading the Bible, look for:
1) Lessons to be learned
2) Examples to be followed.
3) Promises to be enjoyed.
4) Jesus to be revealed.

Steps on How to Journal - SOAP Method

Have you ever worked hard for something, saved, and then purchased it and then misplaced it? I have, it's a horrible feeling. In the same way, Journaling is a way for us to receive gems from the Lord and not only to receive it, but retain it. God encourages us to record the things we receive from Him:

9 In addition to being a wise man, the Preacher also taught the people knowledge; and he pondered, searched out and arranged many proverbs. 10 The Preacher sought to find delightful words and to write words of truth correctly. 11 The words of wise men are like goads, and masters of these collections are like well-driven nails; they are given by one Shepherd.
Ecclesiastes 12:9-11 (NASB)

If you have the want to meet with God let us give you a simple way. It is called the SOAP method of journaling your devotional thoughts. Grab a notebook, get a journal, or open a new document in your computer and use the next four steps to help you in your devotional time.

Scripture - turn to the Bible reading for the prescribed day.
Ask God to speak to you from His Word. Look for a verse that particularly speaks to you and write it out.

Observation - What do you think God is saying to you in this scripture? Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you and reveal Jesus to you. Write out anything you notice or possibly have questions on.

Application - Personalize what you have read, by asking yourself how it applies to your life right now. Perhaps it is instruction, encouragement, revelation of a new or corrections for a particular area of your life. Write how this scripture can apply to you today.

Prayer - Remember prayer is talking to and listening to God.
Write out whatever your response to God maybe or how God spoke to you.
