While not growing up in a religious household, Andy’s life changed in 1981 after a friend introduced him to Christ. After graduating from the University of Hawaii, he moved to Los Angeles where he served with Campus Crusade for Christ, and then obtained an M. Div. from Talbot School of Theology.

While in seminary, he met a Japanese missionary who happened to be living in LA. At the time, although the extent of Andy’s interest in Japan was limited to his fond memories of “Kikaida” while growing up, this missionary’s charm and beauty were too much to resist. Andy and Eri were married in 1997, and now have two wonderful children, Christopher and Michelle. His interests include food, travel, foreign films, martial arts, and watching David Letterman.
